Layered Walking Taco Casserole (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
02 - 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
03 - 1/2 cup water
04 - 1 (10-ounce) can Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chilies), drained
05 - 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed (optional)
06 - 2 cups crushed tortilla chips (e.g., Fritos or Doritos)
07 - 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese

→ For Toppings (Optional)

08 - 1/2 cup sour cream
09 - 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
10 - 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
11 - 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños
12 - 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
13 - 1 avocado, diced

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
02 - In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned (about 5 minutes). Drain excess grease, then stir in taco seasoning, water, Rotel, and black beans (if using). Simmer for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
03 - Spread half of the crushed chips on the bottom of the baking dish. Layer the seasoned beef mixture on top. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the meat.
04 - Bake uncovered for 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
05 - Sprinkle the remaining crushed chips on top. Garnish with your favorite toppings and serve warm.

01 - Want extra spice? Add diced jalapeños or use spicy taco seasoning.
02 - Swap meat for shredded chicken or a vegetarian alternative like black beans and corn.
